WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE
Share hosting, Cloud hosting, or VPS hosting?
Unsure what the difference is? Let us explain in simple terms.
Shared Hosting means all your websites files, including any databases, share a server with other websites all on the same server IP address.
Some shared hosting servers may host as little as 10,000 websites or more than 500,000 websites. These numbers can differ greatly between different web hosting service providers. VPS Hosting, or Virtual Private Server, hosting is the next step up. A VPS hosting environment mimics a Dedicated Server within a shared hosting environment.
It is technically both shared hosting and dedicated hosting but with more dedicated resources to assist in improving the visitor experience. And, unlike other e-commerce platforms such as Shopify and Squarespace, you have full control over your hosting and you are not at the whim of their customer service or support team.
Mid-way between Shared and VPS hosting is Cloud hosting. Cloud hosting can change allocated server resources (CPU cycles, RAM, etc) for your hosting on-the-fly reducing the need to migrate hosting to another server just to improve server resources.
Nearly all Big Rock Graphics websites are now either on Cloud Hosting or VPS hosting.
